A BIT OF HISTORY

The land where the hotel stands was once part of the convent of the Recoletos monks, who centuries ago were dedicated to growing fruits and vegetables and teaching woodwork. After years of religious, political, economic, and urban planning transitions, Gran Hotel Cochabamba was born on September 17, 1943, under the visionary and entrepreneurial leadership of Don Julio Arauco Prado. The location, then considered on the outskirts of the city, brought together exceptional conditions that made it famous and highly frequented, such as its parks, beautiful gardens, sports courts, swimming pool, billiard rooms, and above all, its exquisite gastronomy, all set against the scenic backdrop of the nearby slopes of the Tunari Mountain Range.

In 2009, the Pavisic Antezana family took over the hotel, giving it a renewed touch of freshness and modernity, masterfully combining the classic spaces with today’s essential technology, making a stay in Cochabamba an unforgettable experience.
